The price of a boiler service varies from one heating engineer to another, and offers are not always comparable. Here is how to read a quote, what should be included, and what you should get for your money.

At A-Heating, servicing a standard gas condensing boiler costs €139 incl. VAT, call-out included, in Brussels and throughout Wallonia. For a specific model (oil boiler, high output, old appliance), we give you an exact price before we come. No hidden extras.

What should be included in the price

• The technician's call-out.
• Cleaning of the burner, heat exchanger and condensate trap.
• Combustion analysis and adjustment (CO, CO₂, efficiency).
• Check of safety devices, expansion vessel and pressure.
• A full test in heating and domestic hot water mode.
• The service report or certificate.

What changes the price of a service

• The type of boiler: an oil boiler takes more work (nozzle, filter, soot) than a gas boiler.
• The condition of the appliance: a boiler not serviced for years takes longer.
• Wear parts: electrodes, seals or a nozzle to be replaced are charged extra, after a quote.
• Accessibility: a boiler boxed in a cupboard or hard to reach complicates the job.

Pitfalls to avoid

• The teaser price without call-out: always ask for an all-in price, VAT included.
• The 15-minute service: a proper service takes about an hour. Less means nothing was dismantled or cleaned.
• No document: without a certificate you cannot prove anything to your insurer or landlord.
• "Urgent" repairs without a quote: no part should be replaced without your prior agreement.

One-off service or maintenance contract?

Some heating engineers offer an annual contract. It is convenient if you want an automatic reminder, but compare the total price: a one-off service, booked online when you need it, is often cheaper. At A-Heating we simply remind you the following year, with no commitment.

Does a service pay for itself?

A dirty boiler uses more fuel for the same heat, and a repair in the middle of winter almost always costs more than a service. Over the life of the appliance, regular servicing is one of the most cost-effective expenses of your heating system. It is also legally required at regular intervals.
